Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Doula? What do they do?
Doulas provide emotional and physical support with pregnancy, birth and postpartum whilst helping clients navigate and understand their preferences.
Why did you become a Doula?
My personal choice to become a Doula comes from wishing to support parents to have the birth that is ideal for them and gives them the best experience. I believe information is power and being informed can make all the difference when making choices in birth. The second aspect of doulaing comes after birth and involves supporting parents during the transition throughout the '4th trimester'. I can support you with infant feeding, safe sleep, postpartum recovery and debriefing birth.
Can you do physical examinations?
No, I am not there to replace medical professionals. I am there to support your space and to be a source of information and help to get in touch with appropriate medical support.
Do you only support one type of birth?
No, I support all types of birth, my aim is for you to have the most positive experience for you whilst understanding the choices you have made so you only make choices that align with your own personal beliefs and life experiences. We will talk in great detail about your hopes and fears surrounding birth and postpartum so that I can understand exactly how best to support you.
